The Internet, the Model for the New Economy

To briefly recap my previous article, I started by saying that one of the big leaders of Internet usage overall is in Internet Education. Even public schools have seen the advantage of teaching from the web. Home-work assignments in many schools are now posted on the web for the student to download or work on in some environment. Computer usage for education is almost the norm these days, and certainly one of the mandatory tools for education advancement. The Internet, the model for the new economy...Yes, I could go on and on, but I want to continue.

I have the following information from who I consider to be an "expert" on the subject of "home schooling". This lady has an insight into education that the public school system would be wise to listen to. Here are some of her thoughts on home schooling and the multiples of advantages.

She talks about using the "webinar" content and their displays. One example she cited was that her family was able to enjoy a (free) webinar from the Heritage Foundation on the Constitution. It is very refreshing for me to hear of our younger generations getting expert knowledge on the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. This is something that our public education system has almost excluded from our children's education in these modern times.

Her husband uses multiple webinars in his business, including not only with attendance but writing and hosting them as well. In our Internet business, my wife and I use webinar information for training almost every day to get the latest, most accurate information available in our field.

There is a system of education available online that does all schooling at home including but not limited to the assignments, grading and teaching done via Internet teachers. I understand this is a very big success. Television's "Discovery Channel" ran a series on teaching in the "out-back" in Australia about this. I have also heard of this system being employed in remote areas of Alaska as well. Some of the success can be contributed to today's availability of "on-line Tutors", and they are becoming more popular every day.

The available "how-to" videos (especially those on u-tube) actually function as an excellent way to show and do hands-on learning. Online science and history videos offer a very entertaining system for kids to learn.

Google availability produces searches that replace the encyclopedia and dictionary by providing look-ups that can lead to answers to any question any child or adult may have. With the answers available at our fingertips, the speed in which we learn is exponential as compared to what was available even 5 years ago. Research tools today are being improved at a very rapid rate, almost outdating published books even before they can be printed.

Kids and adults alike who are not learning online will be left behind in this information age. Home schooling allows the teachers to move quickly to new formats and teaching methods such as can be found on the Internet. The government sponsored school system currently is bogged down with bureaucracy and socialistic red tape.

The Internet, the model for the new economy is here to stay and grow. The Internet affects everyone - young, pre-baby boomer, boomer and elderly alike. I love to hear where someone in later life has made a major contribution to not just life in general but the overall well being of many multiples of individuals.

As I said in the last article on this subject, many smaller business managers are beginning to see the value of computers, just as larger businesses have done for years. Our graduating students are going out into the work force, and taking those computer skills with them into the businesses they work for. That is a major advantage for the small business owner, if they will just recognize it and use the information.
